Framing Your Art

Top Tips on Framing

Lots of prints and wall art are sold unframed, and that’s usually because frames are as personal as the art itself. Firstly, there’s the colour; from black to white, metallic or bright pink, what ever takes your fancy! Secondly, there’s the material; wood, metal, acrylic or aluminium? And if that wasn’t enough to think about, are you looking for a thick frame or a slimline frame?

You see, you're spoilt for choice!

But like I say, don’t let any of this worry you as you will know once you start looking what will suit the piece and your home. And it's not as expensive as you might think.

Supporting Local

When it comes to framing, use your local framer if your town has one as they are great for helping you decide what’s best for your piece of art and can often show you examples. But if you don’t have a local option or can’t get to one then don’t fear as there is so much fantastic choice online.

Our Online Favourites

Some of my personal favourites are...

Ikea for thicker frames and collage frames - and they are pretty unbeatable on price! https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/search/products/?q=frames

But, if you want more of a narrow frame look that’s just as good on price, then I would check out H&M for a great selection of black, white and wood frames in a selection of sizes including A4, A3 and A2: https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/search-results.html?q=frames

V&A are also one to check out. They don't have a large selection, but I do love their oak frame: https://www.vam.ac.uk/shop/catalogsearch/result/?q=frames

I also love using Unique Arts website for frames, they are super reliable and amazing quality and have a great selection of both ready-made frames and bespoke. They have a huge selection of sizes and great choice of colours that go beyond the standard black, white and wood - they do gorgeous shades of grey and cream etc. They also have loads of different shades of wood; I love their white wash wood for that Scandi look. They also do a selection of materials from metallics to wood to aluminium: https://www.uniquearts.ltd.uk/readymade-frames

So, it really is as easy as buying the art itself!

I hope this is useful and If you do create a gallery wall or frame your D&C art please share and tag us on social media as we would love to see.
