Clare has been a practising studio-based artist for over three decades, alongside being a teacher and enthusiastic traveller. Clare studied textile design at Derby University as a weaver, but quickly found the freedom of felt-making and spent many years designing unique wall hangings and other sculptural pieces. Like many artists, Clare evolved her creativity and fell in love with paint and mixed media.

Clare has explored many countries and cultures and uses these experiences as inspiration for her work. In the year 2000, she was lucky enough to gain a research and travel award through the Arts Council to spend a year in India. She was then subsequently invited to have a solo exhibition at The British Council’s Queens Gallery in New Delhi, India. Clare has also exhibited at The Usher Gallery and Byard Art in Cambridge where she has been an open studio member for the last ten years.

Clare’s current work is inspired by nature around us, from flowers to landscapes where she uses line and layering of acrylics with mixed media to create amazing paintings. When not painting she teaches the next generation of artists, sharing her knowledge and passing her skills onto others.
